Community Action Forums

Community Action Forum, Boston, February 7, 2004

To follow up on the film, we will organize Community Action Forums addressing solutions to homelessness in numerous cities around the country. The forums are designed to bring non-traditional partners in the fight against homelessness together with those individuals and organizations who are on the front lines of the fight every day.

The project will provide a template and workshop manual for the forums, as well as options for individual participation, based on interest and particular skills. Local homeless people will be involved in the design and implementation of the forums. The forums are intended to compliment existing public efforts in local communities and broaden participation.

Goals include:

Individual and organizational participation in solutions to homelessness
Personal connections between housed and homeless people
New affordable housing units for low-income households
Support for national and local bi-partisan legislation to reduce homelessness
